The third round of the Digging into Data Challenge, a grant competition designed to help develop digital research in the humanities and social sciences is now open.

This international grant competition sees Jisc in the UK deliver the programme management and grants administration, with £1 million funding for the successful UK grantees coming from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).

Now going into the third round of the competition, the Digging into Data Challenge has funded a wide variety of projects that explore how computationally intensive research methods can be used to ask new questions about and gain new insights into our world. To encourage innovative research from across the globe, Digging into Data is sponsored by ten international research funding organisations that are working together to focus the attention of the social sciences, humanities, library, archival, information, computer, mathematical, and statistical science communities on large-scale data analysis and its potential applications.

Applicants will form international teams from at least two of the participating countries (Canada, the Netherlands, UK, USA).

Closing date: 15 May 2013
